Manik Skateboards, in association with BLVD. Gallery, is pleased to present Pushin 5, an exhibition examining the aesthetic carnage at the unmarked intersection of fine art, contemporary graphics and skateboard culture. This show is a follow-up to the highly acclaimed PUSH Project exhibition, which opened in Seattle in 2003 before traveling to Los Angeles, New York and Portland, OR. Like its predecessor, the show will feature the work of highly accomplished artists working in a variety of media. This exhibition marks the fifth anniversary of the innovative Seattle-based skateboard enterprise Manik. In addition to facilitating events related to skateboarding culture throughout the region, Maniks sophisticated approach to skateboard graphics employs an artist-in-residence program in producing their popular line of limited edition skate decks and related products. New skateboard designs by internationally recognized photographer Charles Peterson will be introduced in the Pushin 5 exhibition, alongside the grunge era photographs that inspired his skateboard series. Peterson will be joined by a broad array of artists including George Estrada, Shawn Wolfe, Joe Newton, Maya Hayuk, Marco Hernandez, Iosefatu Sua, Jesse Edwards, Mary Long, Tim Silbaugh, Sam Sneke, Ries Niemi, Chikayoshi Satomi, Bigfoot, Robert Hardgrave, and Andrio Abero, among a host of others.
