Claimin Space is a look at a movement that is making the leap from the anonymity of the streets into the art world spotlight. Featuring work that at times straddle the line between fine art and Street, Claimin Space explores a movement that comes from the notion that pure creativity is not static or monumental but constantly evolving, and often in need of discarding to make way for new concepts and approaches. The urban art movement was born fromĘ street art, Graffiti, skateboard culture, D.I.Y. design, saturday morning cartoons, and basically everything else that could infiltrate young minds raised on MTV and Capt'n Crunch. The very nature of these influences is transitory, to be utilized instead of collected much less traded on the open market for thousands of dollars. This show aims to prove that it is a false choice between legitimacy in the art world and legitimacy in the streets. Art is art regardless of it's venue.
